Welcome to a wonderful new school year here at Plummer.  I am excited to have a positive and successful year together.  I have been teaching for over 20 years and know the importance of working together as a team to create the best learning experience for our kids.  I truly believe that parents are the primary educators of their children, and I respect all of your hard work in making sure that your child is provided with what he/she needs in order to be a successful student.  We have the same goals for your child; to be good, respectful, hard-working, and successful individuals.

In ELA (English Language Arts), students are instructed in accordance with the Common Core Standards.  There is heavy focus in writing and reading comprehension.  At Plummer, we strive for our students to be avid readers.  In 6th grade, our AR (Accelerated Reader) program is part of our ELA curriculum with the goal of having each student read a million words and have a lexile of 1,000 by the end of sixth grade.

 

In social studies, students are instructed in accordance with the California State Standards.  The area of focus is Ancient Civilizations.  Students will learn about the foundation of a civilization and its contributions to modern society.  For each civilization, we will will delve into GRAPES (Geography, Religion, Achievements, Politics, Economy, Social Structure).
